Emily McLarty Shuman's Profile Image

Emily McLarty Shuman

Emily McLarty Shuman is a civil litigator with over ten years of experience in state and federal courts. She focuses on complex litigation, including personal injury and medical malpractice. She has held leadership roles in numerous high exposure cases, notably receiving a grant of certiorari from the Supreme Court of Georgia in one such case.

Prior to joining The Block Firm, Emily litigated cases throughout Georgia, primarily for the defense. Emily brings that perspective, along with her experiences as a judicial intern and clerk, to assist clients at The Block Firm. Additionally, having been injured by another’s negligence, this informs Emily’s desire to be both empathetic and zealous in helping a client through a difficult time.

Emily has written and published articles as well as spoken on areas of legal interest. Emily received a Mercer Law Faculty Award for Outstanding Achievement in Legal Writing as well as several CALI Awards for Excellence. Her advocacy reaches outside the office, as she raises food allergy awareness motivated by her son’s food allergies. Emily has also served on the Fernbank Museum of Natural History Artemis Board.
